Empowering Latinos, Inspiring Growth
Bienvenidos to our premiere issue! Welcome to the new space where you will meet some of the most exciting forces shaping the world of small businesses in Rhode Island. Our purpose is to include articles about Latino entrepreneurs and professionals ranging from the young and aspiring to established leaders who have already achieved a good measure of success.
Visionarios Magazine will encourage us to move beyond our comfort zones, overcoming challenges and continuously striving for improvement, ensuring that we remain resilient and open to new
opportunities.
In this issue we will explore growth from multiple perspectives such as, for example, economic, personal, or professional. At the forefront of this journey are the trailblazers and disruptors and those who dare to push the envelope, no matter the obstacles. Among these leaders, Latino entrepreneurs and executives have emerged as powerful voices of change and empowerment, reshaping the business landscape for future generations.
We are thrilled to feature our cover subject, Randy Martinez, former corporate executive at CVS Health discussing “Confessions of a Former
Chief Diversity Officer.”

In addition, this past year marked the 30 th Anniversary of the death of Selena the Tejano singer, who has become an enduring cultural icon and whose story has had considerable impact on American culture.
In the second feature article, “Selena’s Legacy, My Mission”, I tell of my personal journey after the death of Selena and my pivotal career switch from an advertising agency media activation position to magazine publishing. If it were not for Selena, I would probably not be here in Rhode Island launching this hyper-local community-centered magazine.
Lastly, Carlos Colaecha’s food article, “The Latino Secret to Success is Found in the Kitchen” describing how Peruvians used universal Latino cultural traits to make Peruvian cuisine a global powerhouse—and how you can use the same traits to succeed in and out of the kitchen.
Thank you for reading this letter, and I hope that the planned regular features in this magazine will also engage you and awaken your interest. I anticipate and encourage your feedback. Please contact me directly at EMAIL.
